One of the greatest joys is to have the opportunity to see someone grow and change as a result of education. This is why teaching English as a foreign language or TEFL is so rewarding.

The opportunity to make a difference for someones life that affects literally everything they do is a wonderful reward. Seeing students accomplish many tasks and knowing that they will be able to overcome obstacles in education, work and life in general brings joy to all involved. There is never a dull moment and a great sense of humor keeps the learning wheel well oiled.

The bond begins with the way teachers approach students. When the TEFL instructor greets with genuine cheer and energy the students will feel more at ease. The fears that they may not make it are eased and the gateway to learning is opened. With rewards that come from the satisfaction of students who succeed there is much joy on the part of the instructors.

True bonding must occur by cheerful greetings and taking the time to pace oneself. If a teacher exudes confidence the student is bound to desire the same. When driven by this challenge the student will take home what they learn and apply it right away. A new world opens up, allowing for more options for happiness.

While it is important to teach from a manual or textbook another option to lighten up the classroom is to use audio-visual resources. By using the computer and a variety of tools the written word comes to life. Games and other options all serve the same purpose and allow for variety and practical application. The fun of teaching comes with creativity and trying new things.

Everyone will become engaged and motivated to keep wanting to learn more. When a student reaches several goals then they are bound to want to help others in the class. The value of this is worth tenfold many attempts at teaching. The sense of accomplishment by both student and teacher is felt as true mentoring occurs.

It is important to not teach so much as speak with students. The emphasis of speaking only English in the class is important. Often students in TEFL classes try to merge the new English words with their own language. It is a difficult but possible task to work on this obstacle. When barriers are broken there is no greater joy than knowing another inroad have been made.

Opportunities abound from reading the daily news, reading a book to a child in English, to going forth to earning that college degree. Teaching brings so much joy and satisfaction for both the students and teachers.
