Caddyshack in the year 1980 was Ramis directorial debut and was a masterpiece in its own right. Ramiss film, Year One comes close to Caddyshack in spirit but not necessarily in humor or brilliance. Thankfully it doesnt pay too much attention to the plot or the characters, but its a careless, laughably stupid movie that can send you into convulsions of laughter during some parts of the movie.

The wickedly funny Jack Black plays Zed who is hunter living with a prehistoric tribe. Michael Cera plays Oh, Zeds best friend and is constantly made fun of for displaying signs of feminism. June Diane Raphael plays Maya, Zeds love interest and Juno Temple plays Eema, who romances Oh. Both these guys seem to have nothing special to sweep the girls off their feet. Now, Zed is forced to leave as he eats the forbidden fruit. The movie then follows their adventures. There are some uproarious moments when they meet many types of natives from a father who sacrifices his son to arguing brothers. Then their journey ultimately ends at a horrific city called Sodom where Zed and Oh must rescue their respective lovers.

These two men aim at returning as real mean to win the love of their ladies. The Year one movie definitely has you giggling all through the movie. However, the poo, penis and pee jokes are too many and unnecessary and they start to get a little annoying.

Jack Black carries the entire Year One movie on his sturdy shoulders and there is something so cryptic, yet satisfying about him. His impeccable style will by no means be matched. This style of his is very unique but it is entertainment at its best. His lines can make a toddler or a playwright howl with laughter.

Cera, Juno, and June also do a commendable job. Jack Black and June perfectly complement each other. Also the other famous actors such as Oliver Platt and Vinnie Jones act brilliantly.
