Have you ever planned on a costume party before but didn’t know where to start, and ended up asking for professional help? Arranging a party can be a real hassle, especially if you’re in charge of everything. Choosing the theme, sending out invitations, decorating the place, deciding on the menu, picking out the adult costumes, the prizes, and entertainment for the guests are some of the most arduous tasks you’ll face as a party planner. It is therefore important to plan all of these things beforehand, and asking help from your closest friends is a start. After all, they will be the ones enjoying the party with you.

Once you have decided to hold a costume party, first and foremost, settle on its theme (if there is one). The theme of the party should be exciting and fun and most of all, the women’s and men’s costumes for the said theme shouldn’t be too hard to find or create. If the theme requires that the guests come in rare costumes, then they might end up wearing casual clothes and it might spoil the ambience of the party. Check if the decorations of the theme can fit into your location. Also, make sure that your budget can handle all the expenses for the event.

Its always advisable to consult your friends and family members in order to seek opinions and suggestions. The more the options, the better the outcome is! Note down all the ideas and segregate them between two categories. One that you will use initially for the party and second that you will be using in case you don’t like something and want to make some last minute changes.

The age group is responsible in shaping the whole idea of a party. For instance, if the majority of guests are going to be children, then everything has to be planned as per the convenience of the children. The food, the theme, even the costumes, they are hard to find though. The food in this case has to be less messy and appealing. It’s the opposite in the case of adults. Open bars and cocktail drinks are generally seen in a party which is attended by the adults in majority. Also, in contradiction of the children’s, adult costumes are easily available.

When you have a chosen a date for the party, when to send the invitations should be also be thought of carefully. Never send an invitation too early or too near the said date. A month before the party should provide ample time for the guests to prepare for the children’s costumes, adult costumes, or whatever the theme of the party is. Highlight on the invitation the theme for the party, and that it should be strictly abided to, or else suffer a secret consequence, which can add both excitement and curiosity for those who will be coming in complete costumes and those who won’t.

Also pay some attention towards the prize distribution. Announce that the best costume will be awarded a prize. Not only the best costume but something like the best innovation, most sexy etc are some other categories. This will create a lot of excitement amongst all the guests and the want of winning will bring them in the most exciting costumes!

A party without fun is not a party. So you should take each and every measure to make sure that the guests are having fun at the party. Now just imagine people sitting in a hall in beautiful costumes, each different from other, not doing anything except talking. Will that really be a party? Not at all. So nothing can be as fun as good music. An emcee with good people skills will work fine.

Do not forget to enjoy the party. Agreed that the guests should be happy, but you have organized the whole party. You have to enjoy the most, on your own as well as with the guests. The event’s success is your success. So celebrate!!!
